Finances

The game and this guide are still in development. Details may change, and your feedback is welcome.

01 Where the money comes from

  • Tickets and VIP seats
  • TV money by league tier
  • sponsors (deals expire and need re-signing)
  • merchandise with reputation
  • position and cup prize money
  • and player sales — ticket prices aren't ours to set: they track the league tier (fewer clubs = a little more per match so the season's gate evens out
  • cup and European nights use the base price), so our real lever is a bigger ground

02 Where it goes

  • The weekly wage bill leads
  • then upkeep on buildings and ground, construction, fees, and contract bonuses that pile up all season and settle in one hit on 20 Jun — a bloated squad quietly costs more than the bill you see

03 The debt ceiling

  • Debt at the league ceiling = points docked, a forced fire sale and fans losing faith
  • our ceiling and its warnings live on Finance — amber is watch, red is danger
  • below the ceiling there is no penalty, but cash under zero locks transfers and building until it recovers

04 Budgets and the projection

  • Set your own transfer cap and weekly wage cap (0 = no limit) — any order that would burst them is blocked automatically
  • the 12-month projection shows where the cash line is heading before it gets there

05 Sponsors

  • Sponsor deals run their course and expire — an empty slot is monthly income quietly lost, so re-sign in time
  • a stronger commercial centre makes every new deal richer
  • the bigger your name, the sweeter the offers

06 Annual tax

  • Every 20 June the tax office takes a share of the season's cash profit — 30% by default in every nation (editable in the editor)
  • a losing season pays nothing, and the loss carries forward against future profit without expiring
  • an estimate lands in the inbox on 1 June, and spending on transfers or construction before the 20th shrinks the bill
  • a B team's money sits in the parent's books, so one bill covers both
  • if the charge tips the cash below zero, transfers and construction lock until it recovers

07 Sponsor deal sweeteners

  • Some sponsor deals carry extras — a lump sum on signing, instalments, or a results bonus on top
  • the terms show on the deal card before you sign, so read the lot
  • deals expire and must be re-picked — the bigger our reputation, the better the offers
